BREXIT : MPs VOTED FOR WHAT ?

The Referendum in 2016 gave Electors a simple non political choice, "Whether they wanted Britain to remain in the EU or to leave it  ?".  The result was to "Leave the EU" !

After Prime Minister David Cameron resigned , Theresa May was chosen in his place and she vowed to implement the result of the Referendum.

Since then, Prime Minister May has devoted all her efforts in discussions with EU negotiators to obtain the best possible contractual conditions for Britain to recover its independence from the EU ! 

After that, there have been several "updates" of the negotiations !   BUT, MPs have become increasingly frustrated by what seems to be the tenacity and competence displayed by Theresa May, and.... the next General Election in 2022 is almost on the horizon !

The acid question now is "Why have they always rejected the conditions of the BREXIT contract ?"  The impression generally is that some leading MPs really only want to get rid of the Prime Minister for political reasons and for self interest !

BUT, the irony is also quite clear.   When they do face their Electors they will all glibly say that the conditions for BREXIT were "not good enough" !     

That will be their impressive summary of the 500 page Brexit contract of which, of course, each and every one has read every page ...

GB : BERCOW HAS BETRAYED MPs

When John Bercow accepted the post of "Speaker of the House of Commons" he knew he was expected to be totally impartial and unpolitical in everything he did or said in that function !

This means that as Speaker, although he was an elected MP, he accepted he was no longer permitted to express political opinions to sway issues nor to have personal preferences while performing his new function !

These "Golden Rules" have been blatantly infringed even when he has managed to dig into History to find a precedent to support what he wants to do !  The way he treated Prime Minister Theresa May over the delicate BREXIT issue is totally unforgivable !

It is obvious that his function as Speaker should be ended.   He has been acting like a "smug Dictator" !  The House of Commons should perhaps vote to dismiss him from the House for a certain period of time, or to the next General Election.   He could be replaced by his Deputy Speaker.

The way Bercow has behaved should not be allowed become a "Precedent" in any way for future Speakers.

MORE RIOTS IN FRANCE !!

Once again, for the 18th Saturday in a row, Paris and probably other towns and cities are at this moment facing demonstrations and riots of mounting importance.

It is clear that the situation is out of control :  the Police cannot cope or stop the damage Rioters are causing !   Worldwide TV reports will not fail to comment on what is going on !

Simply said there is now a real "State of Emergency" : this must be recognised officially by the French Ministerial Cabinet !

The next urgent step must be to order the French Army to help the Police to restore order.  BUT, as the next article in this Blog will also explain, the "System of Justice in France" has broken down :  jails are already bursting with inmates and the "soft justice" meted out does not discourage "Vandals" !

GB : WILL CORBYN EVER RESIGN ?

 

Judging from the autocratic manner in which he has led the Socialist Party during the last two years, it is quite clear that 71 year old Jeremy Corbyn will never opt to resign !  

 

His aim is to topple Theresa May from power and to become the next Prime Minister : he could then introduce his extreme left or communistic rules. 

 

However, his performances in the House of Commons highlight his lack of the qualities required of a Prime Minister.    
 

What is also astounding is that other traditional Socialists have not tried to oust Corbyn directly by creating one single counter movement to enable them to fight the next General Election !  
 

Where is the Socialist Leader of the future ?  If nothing is done this could lead to small splinter groups being formed.       If that happens it could be at least 10 years before the next Socialist Government gets elected !

G B : HAVE LABOUR PARTY PRINCIPLES CHANGED ?

The healthy debates in the House of Commons over BREXIT this week, have revealed all the complex difficulties faced by Theresa May to present a project of acceptable conditions for Britain to leave the EU !

For different reasons MPs from all Parties are still either for or against her latest project.   Some MPs even want Britain to remain in the EU so ultimately a majority vote could decide this issue !

However, there is one disturbing  factor, the reactions of Jeremy Corbyn.  He was chosen by the Socialist Party in 2015 as their Leader, but since then he has not, in the opinion of many other observers, acted like a traditional Socialist Leader.

Corbyn's refusal to join other party leaders to discuss the current BREXIT conditions with Theresa May, was astounding but also very worrying !

This is not the first time his independent nature has shocked  people, including some members of his Party.   His beliefs appear to be not just "left" but "FAR left" !
   
If what he says and does could become the Party Policy in future, it would seem Party elders perhaps need to act ! 

Corbyn could become the next Socialist Prime Minister !

GB : HOW FAR WILL BERCOW GO ?

The flagrant abuse of his mission by John Bercow the Speaker of the House of the House of Commons was scandalous.  He refused to apply the historic procedural rules, which led to the defeat of the ruling Conservative Party !

This now hinders the Prime Minister, Theresa May, from pursuing the mission of implimenting the result of the 2016 Referendum (BREXIT) and to ensure the withdrawal of Britain from the EU on the best possible conditions.

What will Bercow do next to ensure the future which HE wants for Britain ?  In other countries many would-be dictators started by changing the Constitution !  To achieve this he would have to keep his  job !

If MPs wish to ensure their current rights to debate freely in the House of Commons, they must do exactly that and propose a vote that gets rid of Bercow !

The freedom of speech is sacred everywhere !

EU : HOW IT COULD CHANGE IN 2019 !

Two major events are on the horizon in 2019 which could change the EU for future years :  
 
  1 - BREXIT, Britain leaves the EU with or without "Agreed Conditions",
 
  2 - The re-election of EU Parliamentary MEPs at the end of May.
      
Added to this, is one fundamental long-term European problem :  
RISING IMMIGRATION !

If Britain leaves the EU, there will be 69 less MEPs and ultimately no UK  
financial contributions to the EU coffers. EU overhead costs must therefore be reduced, to avoid higher costs for the 28 remaining EU member countries ! 

The EU Elections in May 2019 could also provide surprises.   National  Elections in recent years have often seen new anti-immigration Parties established locally all over Europe.   Uncontrolled immigration into the EU, aided by open external EU frontiers, will probably provoke the arrival of many new MEPs in the EU Parliament !

Simply said no country wants the "cost" of refugees from the war-torn Middle East or elsewhre !   Most Countries would prefer a system of "very selective immigration".  Even Germany (and Frau Merkel), only want "selective immigration" of "qualified workers" for its Industries !  The Human Rights of Immigrants are rarely discussed !

After the EU Election, the EU Leaders will  choose and appoint executives to some key posts in the EU.   The aim is to ensure a smoothe collaboration between the Leaders and the MEPs. 

One can imagine that newly elected MEPs will want to introduce new Immigration Rules.     

At last the EU could change for the better !
