BRITAIN MUST RESTORE PUBLIC SECURITY !

 

Judges in Britain for many years have been unable to punish  criminals with longer jail sentences simply because there is no room for them in Prisons !   

This is well known, not only to everyone in the legal profession but also to criminals and to the suffering public.  Everyone is astounded when newspaper articles highlight that reoffending criminals were only recently released !   Sentences must also serve to deter criminals from reoffending ! 

 

The construction of new state of the arts Prisons requires a long term plan.  The new Prime Minister Boris Johnson now has a comfortable majority to govern and therefore has the perfect conditions to introduce such a long term prison plan.   This would oblige future governments to complete any work in progress and also to consider other future Prison projects.

GB : RISING CRIME ? DETER CRIMINALS !!!

There is rising anxiety in several countries other than just Britain, over the increase in all types of crime and the fact that nothing is being done to protect vulnerable citizens. 

Frequent articles in the Press provide statistics which explain why the Police are understaffed and cannot cope with all the complaints by the Public.  

Even elected Politicians and Ministers deftly sidestep any involvement to explain WHY nothing is being done !  Criminals all know that Prisons are full and that only "soft Justice" can be dispensed by Judges.  Only the most serious criminal offenders are imprisoned for lengthy terms !

Would-be criminals and gangs are no longer deterred by the Police or by the punishment they might get if they are caught and then convicted.  

Politicians should regularly be harassed to explain when and how the security of citizens and taxpayers will be better ensured.   There are several important changes which they should consider,

   -  Deterring repetitive criminals by doubling their punishment,

  -  Deterring murderers by reintroducing the Death penalty,

  -  Building more new Prisons with facilities for solitary confinement cells.

Only fundamental changes like these could begin to deter criminals and Gangs !

BREXIT : REPLACE BERCOW AS SPEAKER !

At last John Bercow, the House of Commons Speaker has been halted in his tracks by the newly appointed Prime Minister, Boris Johnson !  Alas the real question now is whether he should not be removed from his post and punished ! 

Bercow should be "impartial and unpolitical" as the Speaker.  The reality is that for a long time, he has been leading the fight to prevent the implementation of the BREXIT Referendum decision, which was that Britain should leave the EU - with or without conditions or costs agreed with the EU !

His impudent conduct must be punished !  If it is not, will he not in future continue to hamper political issues (discussions or Acts of Parliament) with which he or his political allies may disagree ?

Bercow must realise that the freedom of speech, particularly in his Parliament, is a sacred principle in Britain (and in many other countries but not all... !).

EU : PROTECT CITIZEN PAVEMENT RIGHTS !

EU Guideline legislation seems to be necessary (in the absence of local National Legislation) to halt the abuse of the pavement rights of non-motorised pedestrians !

Progressively during the last 20 years "electric scooters", motorised bicycles, motorbikes, etc. conveniently adopt pavements to avoid traffic jams or "one-way" streets !  Likewise pavements are often used for parking purposes much to the irritation of Invalides or Parents with prams !

One must also point out that less policemen are seen on their Beats.  They may be overworked, but some are now also following "crime in action (e.g. speeding)" on their computers.   It is true car owners are regularly fined for speeding or parking offences, but this has not at all deterred Motorbike crimes ?

To deter Motorbikers the only sure way would be to confiscate their bikes on the spot each and every time they are caught !

Futhermore, it is the MEPs in the EU Parliament who must prepare a draft of the EU Legislation to ensure that  national laws in the EU are similar.   For a long time National MPs have been reluctant to launch such legislation because it risks being a vote loser !

Simply said, action is required !

FRANCE : SOFT JUSTICE AND MORE CRIME !

In France every potential criminal fully understands why there is a Policy of soft justice.  Prisons are simply overcrowded ! As a result, some convicts are gniven a "second" chance instead of serving prison sentence !  

This has been the practice during the last 20 years and the security of citizens in France has been undermined.

1   No new high security Prisons have been built to house dangerous criminals or those needing solitary confinement. 
2   Criminals of all levels of danger mix in overcrowded cells. 
3   In fact, "Soft Justice" does not deter Criminals from breaking the Law.  They are prepared to run the risk of not being caught or punished. 

Further consequences are easy to imagine, but they must be addressed :

   -  The Police are understaffed
   - Criminals escape prosecutions
   - Citizens (and their children) are in 
      danger.

President Macron must act quickly to ensure that Gangsters, Drug dealers, Hooded Rioters and Thugs who attack banks and destroy shops, are rounded-up and severely punished.

After the riots yesterday in Paris, Law and order must be restored, but urgently !      

Should the Army not have been on stand-by to help the Police ?

GB : WHO NOW CARES ABOUT HONG KONG ?

Daily there are reports of RIOTS in Hong Kong (HK), but also of heavy-handed attempts to restore calm in HK by forces sent by the Chinese Government in Peking !

Peking considers that the local Police Force in HK is incapable of restoring Order !   BUT also, Peking wants to imprison HK offenders in China, not locally in HK !   

One could say such action does not respect the spirit of the conditions in the 1997 Agreement where the intention clearly is that HK would remain Independent and only become totally Chinese in 2047 !   China now seems to be trying to force changes much earlier.

There are many British Citizens still in HK and some   have never lived elsewhere, but will they all want to remain after 2047 ?   Are there any plans ready to help them to migrate elsewhere ?

There is currently a population explosion in Asia, particularly in China and China is already happy to encourage its surplus subjects to emigrate !    BUT it will NOT want to lose experienced businessmen !  Finally, would China ever help anyone to realise personal assets before leaving ?   

Would Australia and others in the British Commonwealth be prepared to accept HK Immigrants on a "Selective basis" ?   Would they not help active Businessmen to "relocate" ? 

Britain should set a long-term plan in motion.  China is ruthless and it will do anything to become the Master of HK tomorrow rather than patiently wait until 2047 !

GB : HYPOCRITIC MPs KNIFE MAY !

In recent months MPs, on the Left or on the Right, have colluded to vote against every attempt by Theresa May the Prime Minister (PM), to implement the effect of the BREXIT Referendum result, which was that Britain should leave the EU !

In fact MPs adopted two very "personal" objectives -

1  Get rid of May as PM as quickly as posssible.

2  Call a General Election which would then decide who would replace her as the elected PM ! 

Simply said what leading politicians really wanted was her job !   No real economic reasons for anti-BREXIT votes were ever provided.  Now, any politician (if asked) will glibly say the deals which May had obtained from Brussels were not good enough ! 

The political fight to replace May quietly started some time ago !  The "BREXIT" issue was pushed aside and became her stumbling block and a secondary priority.  

The endless determination Theresa May has displayed during the last three years, to get BREXIT over the line since the Referendum vote, has highly impressed   everyone and probably the Queen as well !

The Conservatives must now choose  a new Leader, who will then be faced with  demands from other Parties which want a General Election NOW rather than in 2021 !
 
But, when MPs for personal reasons glibly ignore the wishes of their Electors, they also dice with their own future !   In the next General Election some MPs may unexpectedly lose their safe seat !
